IMPORTANT: A National Forest Adventure Pass is required to park at most trail heads in Angeles National Forest (and must be visibly displayed in vehicle).

Learning how to draw while hiking is a fun and challenging combination of activities for developing both your mental and physical health. These workshops are designed for anyone who is interested in getting outside, learning how to draw, or for those who would like to enhance their existing drawing skills. Workshop Fee Options:
Option 1: $30.00 ($30 Workshop Fee + Purchasing Your Own Supplies)
- Upon registration and payment confirmation, you will receive an email with a recommended supply list. All items on the list will be used and discussed in the workshop. Cost of supplies range from $20-$30 based on the quality and quantity of tools you purchase.
- I recommend actually going to a local art supply store to ensure you are getting exactly what you want and to see the available options first hand. Most Supply stores let you test pencils out before you buy.
Option 2: $50.00 ($30 Workshop fee + $20 for a Basic Drawing Supply Kit - provided for you)
- Supply kit includes: Hardbound sketchbook (bound, non-ringed), (3) artist grade drawing pencils, pencil sharpener, kneaded eraser, and transparent graph ruler.
- The provided kit is designed to keep the cost as low as possible, yet still provide you with good quality materials.
Drawing Skill Level: Beginner
Hike Length: 3 miles total
Trail Type: Out and back
Terrain Type: Mostly single track

This workshop is one of my personal favorites! The fact that we have access to peaks with decent elevation, so close to home, is incredibly fortunate. From a landscape artist's perspective, it's fantastic to have some dramatic elevation changes like the ones you will find along the trail to Mt Lowe Peak. The image behind the title of this page is of Bear Valley, viewed from the Markham saddle which is one of the three drawing locations we will stop at.
Although there is only 325ft of altitudinal gain, there are a few slightly steep sections as we approach the summit of Mount Lowe Peak. Please make sure to wear proper footwear with tread suited for dirt trails.
